Private Estate Wedding on Washington Island

Private Estate Wedding on Washington Island

A Weekend that Prioritized Guests at Every Turn

There are weddings that are beautiful. And then there are weddings that are bold, personal, and logistically daring in all the right ways. This Washington Island celebration for Chris and Cameron was an unforgettable weekend built on hospitality and a deep love for their people.

Private estates make for intimate wedding venues but come with complexity. This island lakeside property offered sweeping water views, mature trees, and the kind of quiet you can’t manufacture, but that meant fully building the event infrastructure from the ground up. Every rental, vendor, and guest arrived via ferry with exact timing. Chartered transportation carried guests to the mainland ferry. From there, they boarded together, anticipation building as the shoreline faded behind them. Once on the island, the iconic cherry train helped shuttle guests closer to the private lakeside estate, as parking at the property simply wasn’t possible.

The weekend included multiple locations across the property and created movement as well as energy throughout the evening. A string quartet played while the ceremony took place inside a sailcloth tent overlooking the water. Immediately following the ceremony, guests were invited into the couple’s home for cocktail hour. Meanwhile, outside, the vendor team transformed the tent from ceremony seating into an elegant dinner reception space. By the time guests re-emerged, the tent had been completely reimagined.

Entertainment was essential to the experience. The layering of live music throughout the night gave the celebration a dynamic rhythm, each phase of the evening felt distinct. A live jazz band accompanied dinner and as dinner concluded, guests were guided to a clear top tent where the DJ took over.  What began as a refined lakeside ceremony evolved into a packed dance floor with jackets off, ties loosened, and pure celebration.

The next morning brunch was provided at a mainland restaurant. Guests staying on the island were shuttled not only on the ferry but also on the couple's private yacht. Chris and Cameron built a weekend that prioritized their guests at every turn. We removed friction, anticipated needs, and made the journey part of the story. Their wedding was about generosity, thoughtfulness, and celebrating love.
