A Story that Began Long Before It Was a Love Story

There is something especially poetic about planning a wedding for two people whose story began long before they ever called it a love story. Claire and Robby met as children with barefoot summers on the Door County peninsula, where their grandparents’ neighboring properties blurred the lines between “yours” and “mine.” Long before there was romance, there was familiarity. And long before there was a proposal, there was place.

Claire and Robby chose to honor tradition with a classic church ceremony and honor the reception space with pure heart. They chose one of Door County’s beloved restaurants for their reception. The space felt warm while candlelight flickered against wood-paneled walls. The hum of conversation felt like the best dinner party you’ve ever attended.

The groom, an incredibly talented illustrator, personally designed every paper detail for the weekend. Their stationery wasn't simply beautiful; it was autobiographical. Hand-drawn sketches of Door County staples: cherries, sailboats, Wilson's Restaurant, Nicolet Bay, Seaquist Orchards, Al Johnson's goats, and more. This stationery provided guests a map of memories. The subtle red, white and blue felt nostalgic, like small town summers in it's most elegant form.

Two children who once ran between neighboring cottages had gathered their families back to the same peninsula to begin their marriage. The wedding wasn't just set here, it belonged here.
