Heartfelt Destination Wedding & Dramatic Door County

Anjoli and Austin dreamed of giving their guests a destination-style weekend getaway. Door County, where Austin spent every summer camping, felt deeply personal and perfectly placed just a short drive from Milwaukee, where most of their guests reside.

The design vision was crisp, clean, and timeless, inspired by Door County’s natural landscape. A moss-covered seating chart set the tone, while a wooden head table and a stone ceremony wall were both adorned with cascading hydrangeas, grounding the aesthetic in organic elegance.

As we monitored the radar, we made the call to delay the ceremony slightly, anticipating a brief downpour. Instead, the weather took a dramatic turn. High winds tore through the venue blowing ceremony chairs into the lake and trees falling across the venue. The power went out and even the reception tent collapsed.

Through it all, Anjoli and Austin remained centered. Anjoli looked at me and said, “Rachel, all I want to do is walk down that aisle.” So we made it happen. We reset the ceremony chairs and florals, and the celebration continued. As the sun emerged, guests rallied wholeheartedly in showing up with full support. Thunder rolled as Anjoli and Austin were pronounced married, and the crowd erupted in cheers.

The photographer of the event owns a nearby restaurant, and we hosted all 170 guests. Guests were fed, espresso martinis flowed, and the party carried on. A cohesive vendor team and a positive, flexible mindset turns chaos into magic.
